Just before Lent we began the 40 Days of Giving program to raise money for ELCA World Hunger. That money was to be collected at home by members of Salem with the goal of eventually sending $1000 to ELCA World Hunger. The Salem Council has agreed to continue our efforts toward that goal and more so that we can send in all that is raised by Salem members. 

The original collection date was going to be Palm Sunday (April 5), but because we cannot gather for worship, we will need to delay the collection. Presumably once the state shutdown for the COVID19 outbreak is over, we can then justify having folks deliver the money they have collected to the church. At this time, it is much simpler if folks keep that money at home, rather than deliver it to the church. When the council meets on April 15, we hope to have a better idea of when to make the collection. MP
