The cross above the Salem main entry has over the years developed a patch of rust in the center. This has resulted in bubbling and a large chip of paint to begin lifting from the surface. Ron DeJong rode in the lift operated by Sue DeJong. Sue does not operate machinery like this on a regular basis, but did a remarkable job of precisely maneuvering to avoid damage to the roof of the building.
Steve Heggestad has taken the cross to a business that can permanently repair and repaint the cross brushed nickel to match the new lettering above the entry.
