Thirty-four members of Salem attended an online congregational meeting on Sunday, August 30, to vote on a roofing project. This will be completed by Gold Star Contracting this fall, and the details of the bid include the following:

  • Remove and replace all shingles with Owens Corning Duration Lifetime Warranty shingles.
  • Install 15# underlayment to entire roof.
  • Install ice and water to code.
  • Install Proedge ridge cap.
  • Remove and replace plumbing stack boots.
  • Remove and replace all 750 vents.
  • Removed and replace all valley metal with closed roll valley.
  • Dump and haul away construction debris.
  • Free upgrade to synthetic underlayment.

Total $78,110.00

Terms: $30,000 down payment, balance to be made in payments which are comfortable to the church, interest free for one year.

After an arbitration process, Salem has approximately the amount of the down payment from insurance. The original bid was $120,000, and the builder renegotiated with suppliers to get us a lower price since we were unable to receive the entire amount from the insurance claim. 

Special donations are requested to help pay down the remaining balance and to reduce the amount necessary to borrow at the end of the interest free period.
